1.1 Rationale:
Why are we doing the plan?
It is useful at the outset to be clear about the rationale for the plan and who needs to be involved. Some of the questions to be asked are:
- Who initiated the plan?
- Who owns it - i.e. who will be held to account if it is not achieved?
- Who needs to be involved in producing it?
- Is everyone involved signed up to achieving its goals?
- Who will it impact on?
- What outcomes is it intended to achieve?
Step 2 looks in more detail at setting the plan’s goals but it is important to be clear at the outset what the plan is for and who needs to be involved in the planning process.
